Creating a Budget Change Entry
A Budget Change Entry allows you to move funds between different budget line items within a project. This helps keep internal budgets aligned with project adjustments or reallocations.
Step 1: Navigate to Budget Changes
- Open the project where you want to make the budget change.
- In the project tab, go to Financials → Budget Manager.
- Select Budget Changes.
- Click New Budget Change.
Step 2: Select Line Items
Each budget line item in Buildend is defined by a unique combination of:
- Job
- Cost Code
- Cost Type
When creating a budget change:
- Select the Job, Cost Code, and Cost Type for the line item you want to move money from.
- Select the Job, Cost Code, and Cost Type for the line item you want to move money to.
Step 3: Enter Transfer Details
- Under Transfer Amount, enter the dollar value to be reallocated.
- In the Notes section, describe the reason for the transfer (for example, “Reallocating unused contingency funds to site materials”).
Step 4: Save the Budget Change
Once submitted:
- The selected “From” line item will show a decrease equal to the transfer amount.
- The selected “To” line item will show an increase equal to the transfer amount.
These changes will only affect the internal budget - they do not modify prime contract or subcontract values.
