Completing Workflow Actions for Requests in Your Ball in Court
Requests such as RFIs, submittals, change orders, invoices, or contracts move through a workflow in BuildEnd. At each stage, a request is assigned to a user or project role (e.g., Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Project Owner). When it’s your turn to act, the request is said to be in your ball in court.
Viewing Requests in Your Ball in Court
You can track requests that require your action in two ways:
Ball in Court Tab:
Navigate to the Ball in Court tab (top-left corner of BuildEnd) to view all requests currently assigned to you.
Email Notification:
Whenever a request moves into your ball in court, you’ll receive an email notification. The email will specify the type of request (e.g., RFI, submittal) and include a direct link to the request.
Responding to a Request
Open the Request
Navigate to the request from your Ball in Court tab or by clicking the link in your email.
Choose an Action
Depending on the workflow, available actions may include:
- Approve
- Decline
- Revise and Resubmit
- Add Notes and Attachments
- Enter notes to explain your decision (e.g., for an RFI, you may provide your answer here).
- Attach supporting files if needed.
Submit Response
Click Submit Response. The request will automatically move to the next workflow state, and the assigned person or role will be notified that the ball is now in their court.
