A Workspace is the highest-level organizational structure within Buildend. It serves as the primary boundary for managing and separating data within the platform.
In most cases, each General Contractor using Buildend will have one dedicated Workspace, named after their Company. This Workspace is owned and managed by the General Contractor and contains all operational activity for their organization, including all projects, users, documents, workflows, settings, and related data.
This structure helps keep company information organized, secure, and separated from other organizations using the platform.
What Exists Within a Workspace
A Workspace contains all core operational and administrative data for an organization, including:
Projects
Users and permissions
Documents and drawings
Tasks and workflows
Directory contacts
Financial and operational data
Company-specific settings and configurations
Because the Workspace is the top-level structure, users can only view projects, data, and records within the Workspace(s) they have access to. 🔐

Working Across Multiple Workspaces
While most general contractors operate within a single Workspace, external users such as subcontractors, vendors, and consultants may work across multiple organizations using Buildend.
In these cases, a user may have access to more than one Workspace and can switch between them as needed.
For example, a subcontractor working with multiple general contractors who use Buildend may:
Switch workspaces to access assigned tasks across different companies
Review project documents and drawings
Respond to workflows or requests
Switching between Workspaces allows these types of users to manage work across organizations while maintaining clear separation between each company’s data.
