Overview

A Workspace is the highest-level organizational structure within Buildend. It serves as the primary boundary for managing and separating data within the platform.

In most cases, each company using Buildend will have its own dedicated Workspace. All projects, users, documents, workflows, settings, and related data for that organization are managed within that Workspace.

This structure helps keep company information organized, secure, and separated from other organizations using the platform.

What Exists Within a Workspace

A Workspace contains all core operational and administrative data for an organization, including:

  • Projects
  • Users and permissions
  • Documents and drawings
  • Tasks and workflows
  • Directory contacts
  • Financial and operational data
  • Company-specific settings and configurations

Because the Workspace is the top-level structure, users only have visibility into data associated with the Workspace(s) they have access to. 🔐

Why Workspaces Are Important

Workspaces provide the foundation for secure and organized data management in Buildend by enabling:

  • Clear separation of company data
  • Secure access and permission control
  • Organization-specific workflows and settings
  • Improved visibility and collaboration within each company environment

They also allow each organization to configure Buildend in a way that reflects its own operational structure, processes, and permissions.

By organizing all information at the Workspace level, Buildend ensures clarity, security, and scalability across projects and organizations.

Working Across Multiple Workspaces

While most general contractors operate within a single Workspace, external users such as subcontractors, vendors, and consultants may work across multiple organizations using Buildend.

In these cases, a user may have access to more than one Workspace and can switch between them as needed.

For example, a subcontractor working with multiple general contractors who use BuildEnd may:

  • Switch workspaces to access assigned tasks across different companies
  • Review project documents and drawings
  • Respond to workflows or requests

Switching between Workspaces allows these types of users to manage work across organizations while maintaining clear separation between each company’s data.
