Data Objects: Overview

Data Settings: Objects are workspace-wide reference data used by Buildend to populate dropdown lists and classify information throughout the platform.

Data Settings: Objects are workspace-wide reference data used by Buildend to populate dropdown lists and classify information throughout the platform. This article explains where to manage Data Objects and how administrators can customize available values for their organization.

  1. Open Settings by clicking your name in the top-right corner and selecting Settings.

  2. In the left navigation menu, under Data Settings heading expand Objects.

  3. Select the Data Object you want to manage. Depending on your permissions, available objects include:

    • Change Categories

    • Change Reasons

    • Cost Types

    • Cost Markups

    • Contract Types

    • Custom Fields

    • Disciplines

    • Expense Types

    • Equipment Categories

    • Equipment Makes

    • Form Types

    • Project Delivery Method

    • Project Team Roles

    • Project Types

    • Project Phases

    • Priorities

    • Task Types

    • Tax Codes

    • Unit of Measures

  4. Add new values or archive existing values as needed to match your organization's requirements.

  5. Repeat these steps for any other Data Objects you want to customize.

Note: Disciplines is a read-only Object. New disciplines cannot be added, and existing disciplines cannot be archived.

Data Objects are shared across the entire workspace. Changes made to these reference lists are available wherever the corresponding dropdowns are used in Buildend.
