Creating an RFI

RFIs (Requests for Information) help document questions and track responses throughout a project. This article explains how to create an RFI from the project log and what information is required before submitting it.

  1. Navigate to the project where you want to create the RFI.

  2. Select Logs > RFIs.

  3. Click Create a RFI.

  4. Review the RFI Number. It is automatically assigned as the next sequential number for the project.

  5. Enter the RFI Name.

  6. Select Received From to identify who submitted the RFI.

  7. Select the Priority.

  8. Enter the Question for the RFI.

  9. Select the Due Date.

  10. Optionally, enter Cost Impact and Schedule Impact.

    • If these impacts are not yet known, leave them blank. Blank values are treated as To Be Decided (TBD).

  11. Optionally, attach any supporting files.

  12. Click Submit to create the RFI.

Required Fields

The following fields are required when creating an RFI:

  • Number

  • Name

  • Received From

  • Priority

  • Question

  • Due Date

All other fields are optional.

What Happens Next?

After the RFI is created:

  • The project's selected workflow is automatically assigned to the RFI.

  • The next person in the workflow receives a notification that their response is required.
